Kids are hard on clothes. And shoes. And toys. And pretty much everything. Between staining, outgrowing, and losing things, it’s hard to keep our 22-month-old clothed and entertained without breaking the bank. {Insert exasperated sigh}.

After insisting for the first couple months of his life that everything had to be new, I quickly learned that gently used (and sometimes new!) for a fraction of the price is the way to go. I tried out different garage sale websites, consignment shops, and sales around town before stumbling upon my favorite place to outfit my kiddo, Just Between Friends (JBF).

Shoppers can find children’s clothing (infant through teen sizes), maternity clothing, infant care items, kid furnishings, toys and play equipment, books, DVDs, games, arts and crafts, strollers and car seats, and sporting goods for 50-90% off of retail prices. Everything is neatly organized and fairly priced, and I’m always especially impressed with the helpfulness of the volunteers.
DSC_0663After trying many other similar sales, the things that made Just Between Friends stand out included: an equal amount of boy’s and girl’s clothing (can I get an Amen from the boy moms?!), volunteers who were happy to be there, and an overall feel that other shoppers were there to get a good deal but were not cut throat to obtain it. Plus, shoppers can also donate a small amount at the register to benefit local families who are in need.

The JBF fall event takes place August 10-13 at The Hamilton County Fairgrounds. Shoppers can find the schedule of events and directions here.  If you’re interested in selling items at future events, check out the details here. Happy bargain shopping!

Katie is a Butler University graduate, who was lucky enough to meet her husband the third day of college. After graduating as one of Butler’s top 10 women, she went on to do Teach for America; South Carolina. She was a second grade teacher in a school with a high Hispanic population and loved every second of it. Never intending to be a stay-at-home parent, she worked until the day before she gave birth, took one look into her son’s eyes, and decided she wanted to be a stay-at-home mom after all. After re-prioritizing upon the birth of their son, Katie and her husband decided to move back to Indianapolis to be closer to family. She recently graduated with her master’s degree in education. She loves to cook, celebrate holidays, watch movies, party plan, travel the world, take walks, and play with her Border Collie. You will likely find her seeking adventure, hunting for bargains, helping others get healthy through her passion as a health coach, or cuddling on the couch with her hubby, baby, and puppy. If you’re interested in reading more about her crazy adventures, check out her personal blog, A Quinning Love.
