Indianapolis Moms Guide to Berry Picking

It is officially June which means the beginning of u-pick season. When I first heard of u-pick (because it was not a thing growing up in Alabama) I was immediately on board. What a great way to get outside with the family, enjoy the summer weather, teach the kids how to food grows and show them where some of our food comes from.

There are a few u-pick places in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas. You can pick anything from strawberries, red raspberries, blueberries, and grapes depending on the time of year (which some seasons go to August).

Spencer Farm: This is one of the highly recommended places to go.

Noblesville; Hours: 9a-7p Monday thru Saturday, 12p-6p Sunday; offers U-pick and pre-picked strawberries. Spencer’s offers the advice to check their Facebook page when strawberries are ready. It is usually best to u-pick within those 3-5 days. You can also u-pick blueberries and red raspberries in July. Grapes you can u-pick in July as well.

Also, be sure to stop by the farm store for a generous selection of additional produce and sweet treats.

Waterman’s Family Farm: Also comes highly recommended. Located in Greenwood and Indianapolis.
